Med Fit is a Functional Medicine Clinic. Jerald Cook, MD is a dual boarded physician in Occupational Medicine and Preventive Medicine. He has advanced training in Psychiatry, Environmental Medicine, Functional Medicine, Toxicology, Addiction Medicine and Ironman Triathlon Coaching. Our holistic approach aims to find the root cause of chronic illness. Whether you are an elite athlete, have multiple chronic illnesses, or are somewhere in between, the goal is the same: to achieve your best health.
Our healthcare system is complex and sometimes inefficient. Patients are often left bouncing between specialists searching for answers. The Centers for Disease Control estimate that 25% of all American adults have at least 2 chronic illnesses--heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, obesity, or arthritis. While these are the costliest and most disabling diseases from which we suffer, they are also the most preventable. In short, the power to be well is far more in your control than you may believe!
Our initial goal is to clearly communicate what we do and how we do it so that each patient chooses their path toward health and wellness and arrives prepared in order to receive the most benefit from their time with Dr. Cook. We provide consultative services to serve as your advocate in whole health and wellness. While our office can and will prescribe medications when indicated, we believe that each patient can employ multiple treatment modalities that will decrease their disease burden not by treating symptoms or numbers but through addressing the needs of the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. We work in collaboration with you and your primary care provider to help you achieve the health outcome you desire.
